Introduction
Fowler & Gilbert Ltd specialises in the design and supply of custom steel frame buildings for agricultural and industrial applications. Their high-quality structures are built to withstand demanding environments and meet the specific needs of their clients. As part of their commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability, they required an eco-friendly welfare solution for their workforce.

The Requirement
Ensuring comfortable and compliant welfare facilities on-site was essential for maintaining productivity and meeting regulatory requirements. Traditional diesel-powered welfare units were costly to operate and had a significant environmental impact. Fowler & Gilbert Ltd sought a modern, sustainable alternative that would provide essential amenities while reducing their carbon footprint.
The Solution
To meet these requirements, Fowler & Gilbert Ltd partnered with ecowelfare to deploy a 12ft fully solar-powered welfare unit. This unit featured a canteen for meal preparation and breaks, as well as two toilets to maintain hygiene standards. By eliminating reliance on diesel generators, the welfare unit provided a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution while offering a comfortable space for employees on-site.
The Conclusion
- Zero fuel costs – Fully solar-powered, eliminating reliance on diesel.
- Over 23 litres of fuel saved – Reducing operational expenses and environmental impact.
- More than 74kg of CO2 emissions avoided – Supporting Fowler & Gilbert Ltd.’s sustainability objectives.
- Improved workforce welfare – Providing a well-equipped, comfortable space for on-site staff.
