Introduction
Finning (UK) Ltd a leading distributor of Caterpillar equipment and a major provider of power systems and support services, required suitable toilet facilities to support its team in Winsford, Cheshire. The location presented a particular challenge because it was off-grid; mains power, water connections and permanent drainage infrastructure were completely unavailable during the initial phases of development and permanent facilities had not yet been established on-site.
They needed a dependable, completely self-contained solution that could be delivered directly to the remote site, ensuring a high standard of sanitation, proper hot-water handwashing facilities and everyday comfort to maintain the overall well being of the workforce.
The Requirement
Operating effectively without relying on mains power, mains water or permanent drainage was essential, as the project required a modern solution that completely avoided a noisy diesel generator to ensure the site could run quietly and efficiently. To maintain a high standard of health and safety, the unit needed to provide fresh-water flushing toilets alongside an instant supply of hot water for proper handwashing, making it crucial that the equipment could be delivered and positioned easily without requiring any permanent groundwork.
The Solution
We supplied a Solar Toilet Trailer 2+2 unit to the Winsford site in Cheshire, featuring four individual cubicles equipped with fresh-water flushing and instant hot handwashing. Powered entirely by an integrated solar and battery system, the unit eliminated the need for generators or fuel, utilising a 210-litre fresh-water tank and a 460-litre waste tank to operate completely off-grid. The towable trailer was delivered directly to the location, where its electric hydraulic system quickly lowered and stabilised it into a secure, static installation for the duration of the hire.
