Introduction
D&N Maintenance is a trusted provider of property maintenance and repair services, delivering high-quality solutions across various sectors. With projects often requiring teams to work on-site for extended periods, ensuring staff have access to proper welfare facilities was a priority. They sought an environmentally friendly solution that would provide essential amenities while aligning with their commitment to sustainability.

The Requirement
Providing welfare facilities for on-site teams is crucial for productivity and wellbeing. Traditional diesel-powered units came with high running costs and a significant carbon footprint, which conflicted with D&N Maintenance’s sustainability goals. They needed a modern, energy-efficient alternative that could offer key features such as sanitation, a canteen and a drying room without relying on fossil fuels.
The Solution
D&N Maintenance partnered with ecowelfare to introduce a 12ft fully solar-powered welfare unit on-site. The unit included a canteen for meal preparation and breaks, a toilet for sanitation and a drying room for keeping work gear in good condition. The solar-powered design provided a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative that met operational needs while supporting their environmental commitments.
The Conclusion
- Zero fuel costs – Fully solar-powered, eliminating reliance on diesel.
- Over 118 litres of fuel saved – Reducing operational expenses and environmental impact.
- More than 374kg of CO2 emissions avoided – Supporting D&N Maintenance’s sustainability goals.
- Improved workforce welfare – Providing comfortable, well-equipped spaces tailored to site requirements.
