Last week at GeoTechnica25 β the UKβs leading event for the geotechnical and geoenvironmental community β we exhibited two of our ecowelfare units at the Warwickshire Event Centre.
We went to showcase what we do. But what stood out most were the conversations.
Because the feedback from site teams, sustainability managers, and existing hirers made one thing very clear:
The industry isnβt just ready for change β itβs asking for it.
βThese Are What We Needβ
We had site users β especially female teams β stepping into our solar-powered ecowelfare units and saying:
βThese are what we need.β
Theyβd used legacy diesel units before β noisy, chemical-based toilets, unreliable. In contrast, the flushing toilets, smart onboard power, and proper facilities inside our 12ft and 24ft units felt like a step change.
One visitor told us:
βWe had one of these on our last job. Brilliant. Everything ran off solar β the lights, the fridge, even our laptops. Wouldnβt go back.β
The Cost Question (Answered)
When the conversation naturally turned to cost, the timing couldnβt have been better.
One of our existing ecowelfare clients visited the stand and did a brilliant job of explaining to other visitors:
βWe used your unit on a live site and had literally zero diesel spend for the entire job.β
That kind of peer-to-peer feedback matters. Real jobs. Real savings. No compromise.
Powered by Solar β Even at the Show
While most stands at GeoTechnica25 were powered by diesel generators β with wires trailing across the floor β we ran entirely off-grid, just like our units do on site.
Our stand powered:
- Lighting
- Fridges with cold drinks
- Laptops and screens
- Even a freezer full of ice creams
All from onboard solar. Quiet. Clean. Simple.
Sustainability in Action
One sustainability lead summed it up perfectly:
βOur customers are demanding a sustainable supply chain β and we need to be able to demonstrate it.β
Thatβs what ecowelfare delivers.
Not theory. Not marketing spin.
Just reliable, solar-powered site welfare β used daily across the country by teams who want something better.
Scaling to Meet Demand
We originally brought a 12ft solar welfare unit and solar portable toilet to the event.
But demand on the day was strong β with several visitors asking for something βwith an office.β So mid-show, we brought in our 24ft welfare unit with a separate office direct from our Coventry depot.
Thanks to our in-house team, we delivered and installed within a couple of hours β no drama. It became one of the busiest points on our stand.
The Verdict?
The geotechnical and wider construction sectors are ready.
Clients are pushing for low-emission alternatives.
Site teams want better facilities.
And forward-thinking contractors are already making the switch.
At ecowelfare, weβre proud to be leading that shift β with real-world, fully solar-powered welfare units that speak for themselves.

A Quick Word on the Networking
We also had a great evening at Walton Hall Hotel & Spa on the Sunday before the show β excellent food and genuinely valuable conversations with others in the sector. Events like this are as much about people as they are about products.
Thanks to everyone who visited, shared feedback, and championed change at GeoTechnica25 β and to the AGS for hosting such a relevant and well-run event.
