Introduction
Dirt Factory is a leading provider of indoor and outdoor bike park experiences, promoting active lifestyles and sustainability. With on-site projects requiring teams to operate for extended periods, ensuring proper welfare facilities was essential. Dirt Factory sought an environmentally friendly solution that would provide essential amenities while aligning with their sustainability values.

The Requirement
Ensuring staff have access to reliable on-site welfare facilities is crucial for productivity and wellbeing. Traditional diesel-powered welfare units incurred high operational costs and a significant carbon footprint, which conflicted with Dirt Factory’s sustainability goals. They required a modern, energy-efficient alternative that could provide sanitation, a canteen and a drying room while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The Solution
To meet these requirements, Dirt Factory partnered with ecowelfare to introduce a 12ft fully solar-powered welfare unit on-site. The unit included a canteen for meal breaks and refreshments, a toilet for sanitation and a drying room to keep workwear and equipment in good condition. This solar-powered solution provided a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered welfare units, significantly reducing emissions and operational costs.
The Conclusion
- Zero fuel costs – Fully solar-powered, eliminating reliance on diesel.
- Over 35 litres of fuel saved – Reducing operational expenses and environmental impact.
- More than 112kg of CO2 emissions avoided – Supporting Dirt Factory’s sustainability goals.
- Improved workforce welfare – Providing comfortable, well-equipped spaces tailored to site requirements.
