In basic terms a septic tank collects wastewater from your home or business premises if you are not connected to a mains sewage system. The septic tank allows the wastewater to break down naturally, separating the solids so that the resulting liquid can then be treated or removed.

Septic tanks use bacteria to break down solid waste discharged from your home, multiple homes, or business premises. Typically, a septic tank is constructed of two or three chambers that breakdown solids into sludge with any remaining wastewater discharged into a soakaway system.

Your septic tank should be emptied or de sludge every year or in line with manufacturers recommendations to avoid any issues that can often be disruptive and often costly.

If you do not empty your septic tank once per year or in line with manufacturers recommendations, then disruptive and costly issues will eventually follow. Also, if your home or premises are not connected to a mains sewage system you are legally bound to adhere to government regulations, failure to do so may lead to prosecution. Remember, if your septic tank is not maintained properly, there is a potential of sewage leaking into your local water course and polluting the environment and harming the local habitat.

As the homeowner and premises or property owner you are responsible for emptying of your septic tank and the safe and legal disposal of any waste removed.

We always advise taking advantage of our annual septic tank emptying service to avoid unnecessary or un expect call outs, although we can usually provide emergency same day or next day septic tank emptying. However, our standard lead time to empty is within 7 days.

When purchasing a property or premises with a septic tank it is always advisable to arrange for the emptying of the septic tank system on or before you move in, so you have the peace of mind that the tank is empty, avoiding any potential nasty or costly surprises when you least expect.

Not going to be in. No problem, if we can access your tank within 30 metres of where our 32 tanker can safely and legally park on hard standing then there should be no reason why we can’t empty if you are not there.

We can empty effluent waste from the following water treatment systems:  Klargester, Cesspit, Cesspool, Packaged Treatment Plants and more. We can also empty effluent from all types of septic tanks including: Brick built tanks, Concrete tanks, Fibre Glass tanks, Polyethylene tanks.

You would only need to upgrade your septic tank system if the runoff discharges into your local water course. If you are unsure, please contact us for advice or assistance.

If you have just moved into a property with a septic tank and have never had to empty a septic tank before, do not worry, we can help you book an empty quickly with no hassle or fuss, just call or click to speak to our friendly team.

Septic tank sewage waste will be removed by our fully trained and experience tanker driver who will safely and legally dispose of your waste at your local license sewage treatment plant.

There are a variety of septic tank manufacturers in the UK market with the most popular being Kingspan (Klargester), Clearwater, Harlequin, Marsh Industries, WPL, Biorock and GRAF.

A cesspool is generally a watertight storage tank which holds sewage underground for storage in a pit and does not have an outlet or carry out any treatment process. Because of this, cesspits require regular maintenance. Therefore, a cesspit should be emptied every month by a fully licensed liquid waste disposal contractor like ourselves.

If your septic tank system is in good working order your household or premises drainage should be quick to clear, and toilets should not be backing up. There should be no smell from your tank and the cover should be accessible and secure. The soak away should be dry not wet or smelly. There should be a pale liquid only with little or no smell should come from the discharge pipe. It should not be dark, smelly or contain any solids. Anything other than the above please contact us for further information or advice as your septic tank may be showing signs of requiring emptying.
