Introduction
Craven Environmental is a leader in environmental management and consultancy, dedicated to sustainable practices in waste management, land remediation and ecological services. With operations often taking place in remote or environmentally sensitive areas, ensuring high-quality, eco-friendly welfare facilities for their workforce was essential. They needed a sustainable, cost-effective solution that aligned with their environmental values while providing comfort and efficiency for their teams.

The Requirement
Providing on-site welfare facilities that meet environmental standards and ensure staff wellbeing is a key challenge for Craven Environmental. Traditional diesel-powered units conflicted with their sustainability goals, presenting high fuel costs and emissions. They required a modern welfare solution that could offer essential amenities, including sanitation, a canteen area and a drying room, while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
The Solution
To address these needs, Craven Environmental partnered with ecowelfare to implement a 12ft fully solar-powered welfare unit. The unit included a canteen for meal preparation and breaks, a single toilet for essential sanitation and a drying room for storing and drying work gear. By utilising solar power, this welfare unit provided an environmentally responsible, cost-effective alternative that supported both operational efficiency and sustainability commitments.
The Conclusion
- Zero fuel costs – Fully solar-powered, eliminating reliance on diesel.
- Over 307 litres of fuel saved – Reducing operational expenses and environmental impact.
- More than 974kg of CO2 emissions avoided – Supporting Craven Environmental’s commitment to sustainability.
- Improved workforce welfare – Providing comfortable, well-equipped spaces tailored to site needs.
