euroloo proudly sponsor Jake Ball, promising Professional Light-Heavyweight Boxer

As you can probably tell, we’re pretty big boxing fans here at euroloo, with our blog featuring write ups on both Isaac Lowe and the most recent World Champion, Tyson Fury. This week we’ll be bringing you another such fighter, one that we’re very lucky to be sponsoring, Jake Ball.

Jake was a former Team GB amateur boxer and has recently turned pro. The light-heavyweight 22 year old from Surrey, made the decision to turn pro not just for the boxing but for the benefit of his family. Being away from his wife and children as an amateur boxer proved just too much and as such, when the call for professional boxing came, he jumped at the chance.

Jake got into boxing at a seriously young age, following his older brother who was only nine or ten at the time, along to his local gym. It was here that he first got a taste for the hands on sport and has stuck at it ever since. Aspiring to be like his idols, Mohammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, he worked hard. He recalls, “I loved the way they showboated in the ring. They both had amazing speed and footwork.” As an amateur he won several national titles including the CYP and Junior ABA titles. He also fought for England on several occasions before being selected for Team GB in 2013. Team GB sent him to 4 class A international tournaments where he subsequently won medals in each.

When it comes to his training now however, the level of intensity has certainly increased for him. He’s now sparring with the likes of current IBF World Super Middleweight Champion, James DeGale and training with Jimmy Mac in Loughton. His training is now also geared toward endurance in order to prepare him for fighting six-rounders. Where his amateur fights were all about speed and moving in and out of range, as a professional, he’s now learning to set himself and hurt his opponent as best he can. This is a real turning point in his career.

When asked about his ambitions and dreams when it comes to his professional boxing career, Jake definitely has a goal in mind. He looks up to James DeGale, with a world title, and has firmly set his sights on having the same for himself. Despite his big dreams, he’s also well aware that he’ll be starting from the very bottom and working his way up to the top but his end goal is most certainly a world title and with the team he has behind him, why not? For the mean time, Jake is currently working toward a southern area title for 2016 and this Saturday will mark one step closer to his ultimate goal where he’ll be going up against Richard Horton on what is a packed Matchroom Boxing promoted card featuring the likes of Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Wyhte and Chris Eubank Jr vs Gary ‘Spike‘ O’Sullivan.

What’s more, we’ll be watching the fight supporting from ringside. We cannot wait to be a part of Jake’s journey as he prepares to make history and rocket his way to the top. Come on Jake, euroloo are firmly behind you and couldn’t be more proud to sponsor such a promising superstar – you can tune in and catch all the action live on Sky Box Office.
